Job description


The PR and Social Media Director is an integral part of the Ad Council鈙 team responsible for creating, crafting and driving communication strategies for more than 40 social good issues each year.





Whether it鈙 working with top YouTube creators or celebrities to produce online videos around a cause, managing a Twitter or Reddit chat with leading issue experts, pitching and booking stories at top tier outlets like Today and the New York Times, writing speeches and talking points for top industry executives and Ad Council stakeholders or setting strategy for our partner PR, social and digital agencies鈟our job will be to identify and manage the right, targeted tactics that can truly surround an issue, reach an audience and make a difference in our world.





This fast-paced position is perfect for someone who has strong written and oral communication skills, is a great project manager, has an appetite for learning the latest in social media trends and is passionate about social change.





RESPONSIBILITIES





Reporting to the SVP of PR and Social Media, you鈒l work collaboratively with the other members of the PR team, as well as with the Digital and Campaign Management departments to set and manage earned and social media communication strategies for a selection of the 40+ annual campaigns.





Manages the development and implementation of PR/social media programs (including managing external agencies and freelancers) designed to extend the reach of a social good issue, including leading brainstorms, drafting plans, and project managing day-to-day implementation of tactics.


Counsels Ad Council campaign managers and clients on public relations and social media activities, opportunities, and strategies.


Writes press releases, talking points, pitches, speeches, blog posts, and social media posts


Assists supervisors with day-to-day activities such as background research on reporters, bloggers and potential spokespeople


Serves as community manager for Ad Council social media channels (curating and developing content) and providing strategic guidance for campaign programs


Various departmental administrative duties including processing invoices, tracking billings, drafting expense reports





Job Requirements





路 5-7 years of experience in public relations and social media. Proven media pitching skills and results in all forms of media with proven track record in online/social media (broadcast, print and online)


路 Experience with using social media, including social networks, blogs, mobile/location-based and emerging technologies


路 Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Work, Excel and PowerPoint


路 Ability to understand technical concepts and convey them in a simple and concise way.


路 Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail


路 Self-motivated and goal-oriented


路 Excellent verbal and written communication skills
