TheStreet, Inc., a leading financial news and information provider, is seeking a Director of Public Relations. This position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and initiates communications strategy and programs to raise the profile of the company, our brands, journalists, events and executives. We are seeking a pro-active, dynamic person who can manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have both a creative and strategic mind, be able to spot and analyze trends and implement compelling communications programs.





Responsibilities:

· Work as a strategic communications advisor to leadership in developing practical and measurable PR plans for TheStreet, Inc. as well as its flagship and portfolio brands.

· Bring fresh ideas and thinking to the team; remain current on news and trends impacting the financial and business sectors.

· Position TheStreet as the go-to expert on industry issues and hot topics by pitching and booking media appearances for reporters/editors.

· Build and/or maintain relationships with producers, reporters and influencers in financial and business news. Engage directly with media to increase companys profile.
Research, pitch and coordinate speaking engagements for management and executives
Coach and prepare journalists and executives for media appearances and speaking engagements. Help groom emerging talent.
Handle inbound press requests and act, at times, as the spokesperson of the company.
Work with editorial and marketing teams to discern best awards for entry, coordinate award nomination materials.
Draft press releases and secure coverage to highlight corporate initiatives including brand launches, conferences/events, key appointments, etc.
Maintain and distribute a PR coverage report to monitor press appearances, press releases, awards and speaking opportunities.
Oversee PR Manager and external agencies as needed.




Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Knowledgeable on current trends in brand journalism, news gathering and distribution.
Track record in generating exceptional results with national media, business and trade press.
Sound project management and organization skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work self-sufficiently all under tight deadlines.
Strategic thinker.
8+ years in a public relations/media relations role in a corporate or agency setting, preferably in the financial services or digital media industry
