Where the Chemistry Happens‚¶ Environmental, Health & Safety Team Leader (1602509) ‚ Iselin, NJ The BASF Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Group is seeking a Team Leader within the Northeast Hub to drive, coordinate and support EHS programs, management systems and related sustainability efforts. This leadership position will oversee ~3-5 EHS Professionals at ~4-7 production and R&D sites. Formula for Success: You Will‚¶

Support BASF Responsible Care© Management Systems, including effective implementation of BASF standardized EHS processes, and participation in management system reviews.
Work with site leadership teams and staff to identify and prioritize EHS issues and opportunities, and develop action plans to reduce EHS risks and improve EHS performance.
Manage Service Level Agreements with assigned sites to ensure effective / efficient assignment of EHS roles & responsibilities.
Work with staff and Site Leadership teams on goal planning and alignment.
Lead / support efforts to optimize effectiveness and efficiency of EHS programs.
Coordinate with the BASF EHS Centers of Expertise and others on development of processes and initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in EHS.
Ensure effective communication of new / modified internal and external EHS requirements and help with implementation planning.
Facilitate the sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and successfully demonstrated practices within the Hub, and across BASF's North America Region.
Implement systems to identify and monitor key performance indicators within area of responsibility and adjust resources and programs as needed to improve EHS performance.
Supervise assigned EHS staff to meet EHS performance goals within area of responsibilities; participate in assessing staff performance; and foster their professional development.
Support Hub Manager with developing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, managing risks, tracking status of Hub activities, and sharing internal resources across the Hub.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You‚¶

Bachelor‚s or higher degree is required. A degree in Engineering, Science, or Business-related field preferred
Must have 8 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or R&D environment
Regulatory and technical expertise in Environmental, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and/or Process Safety
Supervisory experience
Multi-site experience
Additionally:
Ability to identify / prioritize issues and opportunities, and drive change.
Ability to build solid working relationships with direct reports, team members, site leadership teams, and other internal / external stakeholders.
Strong skills related to written/verbal communication, team leadership, coaching, entrepreneurship, results orientation, strategic thinking, conflict management, and influencing/persuasiveness.
Ability to effectively interact with and influence corporate and site leadership and regulatory agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders / representatives.
